You can enter this area from Majula by entering the cave beside the house of the talking-cat. Descend the stairways and come to a room with a gate. The chain lever to open the gate is located right in front of you when you enter this room (by the torch). Continue your way through some more tunnels and you find yourself in Heide's Tower of Flame.
Moving on
Players will then have to make their way past several slow but powerful Old Knights. These immense enemies attack with strong swings. The sword-and-shield wielding types attack in three of four stroke combos, while the single-blade wielders tend to launch a single super-powerful sweep or downward pile driver.
After defeating the first knight look for a staircase that goes down and behind the giant eagle statue; there is a Bonfire located here (you can see it on your right when you are walking towards the first knight). Defeating the second knight reveals Sublime Bone Dust. The third knight guards a switch. Defeating him and tripping it will raise the floor in the Dragonrider arena, making the next battle much easier.
The wide-open circular chamber guarded by three nights contains another hidden switch. Beating the three knights and hitting it raises a second section of floor in the Dragonrider boss arena, making the fight a piece of cake. To overcome these three, draw them out one by one across the narrow bridge leading in. Don't be afraid to break you lock on the enemy, run a little, then turn back and face them again.
After clearing the wide open circular room, players have a choice. The left-hand path leads to the Cathedral of Blue and the Old Dragonslayer boss. This path also leads to the Ring of Binding, one of the most useful early items in the game.

Time to choose
Left Path:Leads you to the Cathedral of Blue, take your time crushing the Old Knights and your get there safe. Lowering the drawbridge to the Cathedral of Blue requires the player to defeat the guarding knight and then flip the nearby switch.
If you chosed this, go to: Cathedral of Blue. |
Right Path:Takes the player to a misty gate leading to the Dragonrider. The Dragonrider is slow like the old knights; you can easily dodge his attacks and hit him from behind. After downing him, you can continue on up to find Licia the Cleric and the second Bonfire for this area. Beyond this point there is a series of tunnels and elevators that descend to the cave-like entrance of No-Mans Wharf.

Dragonrider
This is pretty much the easiest figth in the game. The Dragonrider's arena is an extremely narrow island of land over a lethal pit. This arena can be expanded by pulling a lever behind an Old Knight located just before crossing the walkway into the big rotunda. There is a second lever just to the right of the entrance inside the rotunda with 3 Old Knights. Pulling both of these nullifies any risk of getting pushed into the pit by the Dragonrider.
The Dragonrider fights with a halberd and shield. He will attempt to knock you into the pit with a series of stabbing, hacking, and slashing attacks. Leaping right will evade the stabs and downward hacks. The double-slashes are more difficult to dodge, and are best avoided by keeping distance during the wind-up and rolling away.
The Dragonrider is fairly slow between attacks. There is usually time to utilize an Estus Flask between blows.
Tip: Masterless Glencour can be summoned right outside the Fog Door, he will take the Dragonrider's agro and you can just hit him in to death.
